(Dartmouth, NS – October 5th, 2017) – The MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour will have a second shot at the Annapolis Valley clay as the Series heads to Valley Raceway on Sunday, October 8th for the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash. The Dirt Clash was scheduled to run on Sunday, August 6th, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The race will serve as the fifth of six rounds on the Tour comprised of four cylinder Hondas. The Valley Raceway Trucks, Modified and V8 classes will play support to the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Racing is slated to begin at 1pm at the Melvern Square, Nova Scotia oval.
While full championship points are not in play for the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash, the competitors will be racing for bonus points throughout the event towards the inaugural series title. Tim Webster (Beaver Bank, NS) enters as the championship point leader on the strength of three wins in the first four races of the season. Matthew Warren (White’s Lake, NS) and Pub’s Drive Thru Bottle Exchange 50 winner Dave Matthews (Kennetcook, NS) enter the penultimate race on the year 16 and 20 points behind Webster, respectively. While they will not be able to mathematically take the lead from Webster on Sunday, they will have the opportunity to shrink the gap heading into the season finale Sticker Fool 50 on October 14th at the CENTRE For Speed.
Jesse Deveau (Greenwood, NS) enters as the most experienced MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour driver heading into the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash when it comes to dirt racing. Deveau is the 2015 Valley Raceway Four Cylinder champion and runs regularly at the track in both the Four Cylinder and Truck classes.
Drew MacEachern (Dartmouth, NS), Cody Byrne (Orwell Cove, PE), Neil Miousse (Kentville, NS), Jerome Tracey (Port Hawkesbury, NS), Kyle Gammon (Mount Uniacke, NS) and Douglas Webb (River Ryan, NS) are among the pre-entered drivers that will make their first Valley Raceway starts on Sunday afternoon.
The format for the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash is unique. Unlike a straight 50-lap distance like regular MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour feature, the race will be split into three segments – an opening 20-lap segment, a middle 20-lap stage and a final ten lap sprint for the victory. An inversion, as selected by a lucky fan, will determine an inversion from the finish of the first segment to the starting order for the next 20-lap segment. A bonus point will be paid to the winner in the opening two segments with the top five at the finish also receiving point bonuses towards the 2017 championship.
A special seven lap Dash for Cash presented by Diamond Water Treatment will be held prior to the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash which will feature seven of the top cars running for the checkered flag and the top prize of $100.
The TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash features the biggest purse of the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour season with over $1,500 in prizes including $400 to the winner, along with contingency awards presented by Sticker Fool for Heat Race Winners and EIT Race Radios for the Hard Charger in the feature.
The Valley Raceway Truck, V8 and Modified divisions will run non-point events on Sunday with the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash. Rick Balsor and his son Justin Balsor took home 2017 championships in the Modified and Truck classes, respectively, while Devin Weihers edged Josh Rainforth for the V8 Championship. Point championships were handed out in all four Valley Raceway divisions on October 1st.
Grandstand admission prices for Sunday’s TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash are $12 for adults, while children 12 years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $12 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Fans are reminded this event is not included in their Valley Raceway season pass. Pit gates for competitors on Sunday open at 9am, grandstand gates open for spectators at 12pm with racing getting underway at 1pm. Tickets are available at the gate on race day, cash only sales.
